چکیده
Background: This study sought to determine the anatomical variations of mental foramen (MF) and mandibular canal (MC) in full edentulous Iranian subpopulation using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). These can have significant clinical implications dental implant surgery. Methods: descriptive cross-sectional evaluated mandible CBCT scans 384 completely patients that required treatment. The were retrieved from four radiology clinics Tehran, Iran, quota sampling. reconstructed images dimensions position MC its cortication at site first molar, branching MC, existence anterior loop nerve, MF. correlations variables with age gender analyzed independent t-test, chi-square test, analysis variance based on type variable. Results: molar was present 72.9% cases significantly more common male (P = 0.0001). Bifid canal, accessory MF, nerve 9.9%, 65%, 54.7% samples, respectively, they had no correlation age/gender. mean diameter, MF height, distance inferior border center all higher < 0.05). between buccal lingual cortical plates height superior part alveolar crest lower female those within range 71 - 95 years opened superiorly 40.1% Conclusions: Anatomical course location necessitate precise assessment ridge by prior placement implants.
